Green of a different nature
Philips Hospitality - Sustainability you can bank on.
An easy choice - Philips understands that green initiatives become reality more quickly
if they make sense for business. That's why we've focused our strategy on sustainable
innovation that not only protects our planet, but also lowers costs and increases profitability
for the customers that buy our products. In our eyes, green products should save the earth and
save you money at the same time.
It's easy being green when you work with Philips. We evaluate every
product we produce in terms of energy consumption, packaging,
hazardous substances, weight, lifetime reliability and recycling -
optimizing savings without compromising environmental performance.
To energy savings
Only Philips offers lead-free, RoHS compliant commercial TVs that
employ SmartPower, a green power system that uses less power while
the set is in use, and Energy Saving Programmability that can turn the
set off automatically when the room is unoccupied. These innovations
can save you up to 50% on in-use energy costs. Over seven years, that
translates into $14,065 worth of energy savings for a 100-room hotel.
|
To improved durability and safety
Instead of using less costly materials in our display products, we
choose to use the most environmentally friendly. For instance, the
flame retardants in our televisions won't escalate a nearby fire and can
even lower your insurance costs, and we insist on using only those that
are non-brominated. We think this proves that sustainability not only
enriches lives, it saves them.
|
To greater reliability
The integrated circuit boards Philips uses are specified more stringently
than the law requires, resulting in greater margins for power and voltage
fluctuations. Because we want our products to be around for a while,
all our televisions are able to handle up to a 6KV power surge - the
equivalent of a nearby lightning strike.
|
Higher standards
Philips has been actively involved in green initiatives since 1970,
implementing environmental applications all across the value chain.
Through the years we have created programs like EcoVision,
which focuses on reducing the energy consumption of our
products and facilities, and processes, such as EcoDesign, which
addresses environmental considerations during all phases of
product development.

Having an impact
By maintaining responsible practices at every level, from product design
to corporate policies that affect our manufacturing plants to the offices
we work in, Philips is making the world a little greener. And your
purchase helps us keep growing this green focus for even bigger results.
When you buy Philips products that feature the green logo, found
on models that have been certified by external auditors to be 10%
more efficient than other products in their category - such as
televisions, signage and lighting - you are reaping the benefits of the
investments we have made in energy saving technologies, eco-friendly
package design, use of recyclable materials and diminished reliance on
hazardous materials.
At Philips, we have a vision of a greener, brighter, safer world and
a responsibility to make that vision a reality. We have a strategy,
as we pledge to double our investment in green innovations over
the next five years. We have a passion. A purpose. A commitment
to you and future generations. And we are making a difference,
through sustainability.
